March 27, 2002 is the 75th birthday of MStislav Rostropovich. He is one of the greatest cellos of the 20th century. DG recently released a 2-CD set to Rostropovich in honor of his artistic accomplishments. The album’s tracks are mainly from his unique interpretation of the selected version, but also includes some previously never released or hard to find recordings. The album is divided into two parts: one focuses on the performer’s ability as a soloist under the orchestra’s symphony, and on the other hand shows his cooperation with pianist Alexander Dedyukhin in a more intimate music style such as a duet Style. For the beginners, this album is a stepping stone into the performance art hall of Rostropovich. and
