毛主席1951年为中国戏曲研究院的题词“百花齐放,推陈出新”,发表至今已经有40年了。这一题词,科学而精辟地概括了我国社会主义戏曲艺术改革和发展的基本方针,是他在1942年提出的“推陈出新”思想的丰富与完善,又为他在1956年提出“百花齐放,百家争鸣”这个全面繁荣社会主义文艺的方针,奠定了坚实的思想理论基础。因此,它是毛泽东文艺思想的一个重要组成部份。我国的社会主义文化艺术,是人民大众的文化艺术,它是为千千万万人民群众服务的,因此,它必须丰富多彩、万紫千红,才能满足亿万人民对精神文化
