在冀南豫北一带,自古就有送羊的习俗。所谓“送羊”是指外公、外婆给外孙,或舅舅给外甥送羊。送羊多在农历六月,故称六月为羊月,当地人至今还有六月忌食羊肉的习俗。每年夏收刚过,出嫁的女儿都会带着新麦面蒸的馒头回娘家瞧娘,当地人称作“行麦礼”。当地有句俗语说:收罢麦子打完场,老少闺女去瞧娘。瞧娘不全为瞧娘,为着跟娘去要羊。一进农历六月,家有外孙、外甥的人家,就开始送羊了。
