Objective To investigate the relationship between bone mineral density (BMD), interleukin-6 (IL-6), insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-Ⅰ) and osteocalcin (OC) in women aged 1-3 years after menopause. Methods A total of 200 postmenopausal women with 1-3 years of age were divided into two groups according to the results of their examinations: BMD normal group (90 cases) and BMD reduction group (110 cases). The levels of IL-6, IGF-Ⅰ and OC level, and compare the two groups of results. Results In the BMD reduction group, the low bone mass was 65 cases (59.09%) and the osteoporosis was 45 cases (40.91%). The levels of IL-6 and IGF-Ⅰ in the BMD reduction group were lower than those in the normal BMD group (P < 0.01). The level of OC in BMD decreased group was higher than that in normal BMD group, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.01). Conclusions The changes of serum IL-6, IGF-I and OC levels in postmenopausal women correlate with the changes of their BMD, and the changes of the above indexes can be used to judge osteoporosis.
