为献礼建党90周年,由天津电视台和中欧美国际文化有限公司等主办的大型音乐剧《红星照耀中国》于2011年7月1日和7月3日在天津大剧院和北京展览馆剧场成功地举行了首演。该剧以美国记者埃德加?斯诺的《西行漫记》改编,艺术地再现了1936年斯诺进入延安采写新闻报道的历史事件。由曾执导超大型景观歌剧《阿依达》的知名导演、著名男中音歌唱家刘克清执导;知名文化学者、剧作家张旭编剧;著名作曲家、教授李刚、周进作曲编曲;指挥家、留美博士周进执棒。其主演由来自捷克、俄罗斯和波兰以及首都各大文艺团体、艺术院校的著名艺术家和青年歌唱家们担纲。由天津交响乐团伴奏,中国广播合唱团、天津音乐院烛光合唱团等伴唱。该剧是我国首部采用歌剧音乐会形式演出的原创音乐剧,演出阵容达500余人。该剧以其恢宏的舞台气势和感人的音乐内涵而获得好评。《音乐周报》、《中国音乐报》及京、津许多媒体和全国各大网站均有报道。值得一提的还有根据作曲家写的开场曲音乐同时填词创作的大合唱《红星永远照耀中国》起到了首尾呼应的辉煌效果,也成为剧中仅有的几首非剧作家写的词作之一,并为该剧的成功提供了有力的保证。
