Guangzhou Pumped Storage Power Station constructed by the 14th Bureau of Hydropower held a grand ceremony of completion at the power plant in late August 2000. Located in Conghua, Guangzhou, Guangzhou Power Storage Station is constructed for the safe and economical operation of Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station. It also undertakes peak load shifting and accident backup of Guangdong and Hong Kong power grids. The station is the first high-head and high-capacity pumped storage power station built in China
