衡阳县有可养鱼水面106015亩,其中池塘82226亩,水库23789亩,1978年列为全省重点养鱼县之一,全县水产品总产4250吨,其中池塘养殖总产3880吨,平均亩产49.7公斤。1982年又列为全国水产生产发展重点县,1989年水产品总产量15075吨,其中池塘养殖总产14306吨,平均单产179.5公斤,分别比1978年增长2.55倍、2.69倍和2.61倍。年递增率分别达到12.2％、12.59％和12.38％。十一年来,我县渔业生产出现飞跃发展的形势,主要是科学技术的普及,促进了渔业生产的发展。1987—1989年全县推广“千亩”、“万亩”山塘养鱼高产模式,3年间,年递增率达
