The world has the largest number of French reading journals and this has been the case for many years. According to a survey this year by the French Journal Institute, readership of French journals in 2003 increased by 0.7% over 2002. According to the French Journal Institute, in France, 30.7 million people read at least one magazine a day in 2003, accounting for about 63.9% of the total French population, 85.3% of whom read it at home. The French read an average of seven magazines. Of the 46 million French, 95.7% of whom are over 15, read at least one of the 148 journals that the French Journal Institute specializes in.
