Ed: THERE you are! I was beginning to worry.
Kristie: Hey, Ed! Sorry about that. I got caught in the rain.
Ed: No worries. It’s pretty 1)brutal out there. It’s so good to see you! How’ve you been?
  Kristie: ①I’ve had better days.
Ed: Uh, oh. Wanna talk it out?
  Kristie: I’d rather not.
Ed: Don’t be such a 2)grumpy face! Come on, spill the beans. Don’t hold anything back.
Kristie: Well, if you insist… You see, it’s my boyfriend, Rob. I feel like something has come between us.
Ed: A problem of the heart! Don’t worry, the love doctor is here! Kristie: The love doctor? Is that what you call yourself?
Ed: Why not? There’s no love problem I can’t solve! No case is too big or too small!
  Kristie: Whatever.
Ed: ②It’s time to get to the bottom of this. Let’s start at the beginning. When did you first know there was a problem?
Kristie: This morning, when he sent me an angry text.
Ed: ③What was he worked up about?
Kristie: I dunno. All it said was, “It seems like you don’t care anymore.”
  ① I’ve had better days.
I’ve had better days: an expression used to complain about the present, same as “I’m not having a good day.”(用以表示对目前状态不满的表达方式,等同于“I’m not have a good day.”)。例如:
  —How are you these days?
  —I’ve had better days.
② It’s time to get to the bottom of this.
get to the bottom of sth.: find out the real cause/answer of sth.(探明真相,弄清起因)。例如:
There is obviously something wrong with the high turnover rate, and I wanna get to the bottom of it.
③ What was he worked up about?
work (oneself) up: to make oneself
  excited or upset(兴奋;生气)。例如:
You’ve worked yourself up just because you got a B on chemistry?
  ④ Peace out! 再见!
  peace out: good-bye(再见)。例如:
—So I’ll see you tonight at seven.
  —Peace out!
