Pune conducted a study on the relationship between maternal nutrition during pregnancy and infant development, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases in rural areas around 1993-1996. In the first phase, we examined the relationship between infant birth weight and maternal nutrition. At present, we follow up these children and find out: 1) the mothers’ intake of vitamin B12 and folic acid during pregnancy affects children’s cognitive development; 2) mother’s calcium intake and children’s bone mass and bone density
