Van Duyne, president of the European Aluminum Association (EAA), believes aluminum producers are facing promising growth prospects and the potential of the European aluminum market is far from being exhausted. For example, transportation industry, as the largest source of demand for aluminum, will have more demand. In terms of economy and ecology, light, energy-saving and recycled vehicles will have a bright future in the future. It is estimated that by 2000 the aluminum consumption of each car will rise from the current 65 kg to 115 kg. In addition, the growth of aluminum demand in the construction sector will also positively affect the development of the aluminum market. With an annual economic growth of 2.5-3%, consumption of semi-finished aluminum products and castings in Europe will increase to 8 million tons per year in 2000, equivalent to an increase of 100 in five years
