Since the advent of the first generation of the angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI), captopril, in the late 1970s, advances in ACEI have been made. As an antihypertensive drug, the efficacy of captopril is affirmed. At present, many medical research institutes in the world are carrying out large-scale clinical trials to determine whether captopril can prevent ventricular dilatation and remodeling after myocardial infarction, so as to improve the survival rate of patients with myocardial infarction. Preliminary results obtained so far indicate that the prospects are very encouraging.
