党的建设“伟大工程”这一命题是1939年毛泽东在《〈共产党人〉发刊词》中首次提出的,该工程奠基于井冈山斗争时期,启动于瓦窑堡会议;党的建设伟大工程始于组织建设领域,整风运动将其推进到思想建设领域,这是党的建设伟大工程全面实施的重要标志。党的七大对党章的修改将党的建设伟大工程扩展到政治建设领域,成了党的建设伟大工程理论竣成的重要标志。民主革命时期进行的党的建设伟大工程是中共党建史上的一次系统性工程,初步形成了具有中国特色的无产阶级政党建党的基本理论,为中国共产党的建设奠定了坚实的理论基础。回溯民主革命时期党的建设理论,对于总结马克思主义政党建设科学化经验,掌握党的建设规律,以推进新形势下党的建设新的伟大工程这一重大时代命题,具有重要借鉴价值与现实意义。
