Watching television is the most popular leisure-time activity in Britain. (Next comes gardening.) Peak viewing time is between seven-thirty and ten o’clock in the evenings. The two age groups which watch television most are children between five and fourteen and people over fifty. Children aged five to fourteen watch television on average for twenty-three hours a week. The over-fifties watch on average for seventeen hours a week.
