IDC 1997 fourth quarter PC market tracking report shows that in the desktop market for medium and large enterprises and government departments, HP has become the world’s fastest-growing desktop manufacturing company. Data show that compared with the same period in 1996, HP’s PC sales in large and medium-sized enterprises and government departments increased by 72%, accounting for 10.7% of the global market share, an increase of 3% over 1996. In the U.S. market, HP saw significant growth in the fourth quarter of 1997, with HP PC sales in large and medium-sized businesses and government departments growing 91.9%, ranking third in the market.
