第十二届国际癌症大会及时地提供了一次机会来审查国际抗癌联盟的总方针。的确,本届大会本身不仅仅是一次学术会议,也是一次重新评价癌症研究的新老方法的会议。对于上届大会以来行之有效的研究方法和日常临床治疗方法应予以推广,而那些无效或对人类健康效果不大的方法则应摈弃。自然,国际抗癌联盟并不宣称自己是世界科学进步的最好解释者。也不去制定不容更改的癌症研究方针,而是根据合理选择和个人学术见解的原则来制定癌症研究方针。但本联盟有责任定期审查癌症的基础与临床研究中取得的进展,选出其中最有价值及最能用于临床实践的成果,并通过各种途径把它们迅速推广到全世界。此外,如果出现学术上的疑问与争论,联盟有责任组织会议和研究小组,以便迅速加以解决。本联盟从来都反对对癌症抱消极悲观态度,不管这种态度来自一般群众,卫生部门,还是医学界。联盟一贯鼓励与支持对尚未涉足的新领域的研究,以期打开癌症研究的新局面。但联盟现在必须强调不加分析地对一切新
The Twelfth International Conference on Cancer provided a timely opportunity to review the general guidelines of the International Union Against Cancer. Indeed, the conference itself is not only a conference but also a meeting to reassess the old and new approaches to cancer research. The research methods and daily clinical treatments that have been effective since the last congress should be promoted, and those that are ineffective or have little effect on human health should be discarded. Naturally, the International Union Against Cancer does not claim to be the best interpreter of the world's scientific advancement. Rather than formulating an immutable cancer research guideline, cancer guidelines are based on principles of rational choice and personal academic insight. However, it is the responsibility of the Union to regularly review the progress made in the basic and clinical research of cancer, to select the most valuable and best available results for clinical practice and to rapidly promote them to the world through various means. In addition, in the case of academic inquiries and arguments, it is the coalition's responsibility to organize meetings and study groups for quick resolution. The Union has always opposed a pessimistic attitude towards cancer, whether that attitude comes from the general public, the health sector or the medical community. The coalition has always encouraged and supported research in new areas that have not yet been set in place with a view to opening up new prospects for cancer research.
