So far, there is no universally accepted definition of digital library, which is related to its background. The “explosion of knowledge” that emerged since the late 20th century led to the geometric progression of print, electronic, and internet publications, and the corresponding increase in online information, making it difficult to find the required knowledge. The orderly and hierarchical organization of vast amounts of information, as guided by the navigational compass in the sea, helps people find their own goals quickly and accurately in the seas of knowledge. This requires relying on advanced technical means to organize and utilize various types of information resources. Science and technology are constantly evolving and updating. Therefore, digital libraries can be regarded as a process of development. The technology initially used by digital libraries may be phased out in a few years and replaced by new, more user-friendly technologies.
