唐山是一座具有百年历史的重工业名城,被誉为中国近代工业的摇篮。位于河北省东北部,北依燕山,南临渤海,西邻京津,东与秦皇岛市接壤。现辖2市8县5区,总面积13472平方公里,总人口680万。到大地震前的1975年,唐山已经建成一个工农业生产发达、城市功能齐全的资源型重工业城市。1976年7月28日,历史上罕见的大地震在一瞬间把唐山夷为一片废墟。震后20年来,唐山人民在党中央、国务院和省委、省政府的亲切关怀下,在中国人民解放军和全国人民的大力支援、帮助下,发扬“公而忘私、患难与共、百折不挠、勇往直前”的抗震精神,同心同德,艰苦奋斗,历经十年重建,十年振兴,创造了人类同地震灾害作斗争史上的伟大奇迹。
Tangshan is a famous city with a history of more than a hundred years and is praised as the cradle of modern Chinese industry. Located in the northeast of Hebei Province, according to Yanshan in the north, Bohai Sea in the south, Beijing and Tianjin in the west and Qinhuangdao in the east. Under the jurisdiction of 2 cities and 8 counties and 5 districts, with a total area of 13,472 square kilometers, the total population of 6.8 million. Before the Great Earthquake in 1975, Tangshan has built a resource-heavy industrial city with well-developed industrial and agricultural functions and complete urban functions. July 28, 1976, a rare earthquake in history in a flash Tangshan into a ruin. In the 20 years since the earthquake, under the gracious care of the Central Party Committee, the State Council, the provincial party committee and the provincial government, the people of Tangshan have carried forward the policy of “public and private, suffering together, perseverance and courage” with the vigorous support and assistance of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army and the people throughout the country. After a decade of rebuilding and a decade of rejuvenation, we have created a great miracle in the history of mankind’s struggle against earthquakes.
