一块根材不论是自己采挖或是市场购买,如果它基本符合物象的主体,自然性很好,那它就算是很幸运的。反之,几番折腾,怎么看什么也不像的根料,它的命运就不容乐观了。的确,在我多年的创作实践中,不具备物象条件的根料曾遇到过许多,但本着量材使用的原则,大部分这样的根料是完全可以被利用的,如有的可用来做各类艺术品的底座、手杖、笔筒、朽木盆景等,有的可以几件、几十件组合根字、根画、花架、衣架、中小型根艺家具等。这样的作品既可观赏、使用,又避免了根艺资源的浪费。多年来,笔者的许多拙作都是在这种思想的指导下创作出来
