范蠡湖,位于浙江省嘉兴市城区环城南路北侧,与嘉兴第一中学相邻,碧波一泓,风光秀丽。相传越国范蠡助越灭吴后,曾偕西施来此,后泛五湖,从此发棹,因名范蠡湖。古人记载范蠡湖水域宽广,唐筑城时将湖一角围入城中,以范蠡湖独称。明代湖面周围数百丈,水清见底,至清代湖面周围只剩20多亩,现湖长100多米,宽仅15米左右。1986年8月,嘉兴市人民政府拨款重修范蠡湖,辟为园林,总占地5351平方米。全园以水景取胜,景点环湖而筑,尤以西施妆台最有名。传说西施居此时,每日倾脂粉于湖,湖中遂产五色螺。范蠡湖是嘉兴老环城路内目前唯一留存的水面,也
