In this paper,a reduced complex-ity multistage detector is introduced for DS-CDMAsystems,which is derived from the soft sigmoid deci-sion parallel interference cancellation (PIC) detector.From the derivation,we can see that this reduced com-plexity detector has a more clearly partial interferencecancellation explanation about the soft sigmoid PICdetector.Derivation and computer simulations showthe proposed detector can reach the performance ofsoft sigmoid PIC detector easily without the varianceestimation of the residual noise at each stage or thesigmoid decision function which is not easily imple-mented in practice.
