李子春语气温润,在台湾却以“最坚毅独立”闻名。他是全台湾唯一一个在陈水扁就任“总统”时传唤其出庭的检察官,用他自己的话说,“就是要体现司法在权势面前的尊严”。他当面向马英九呛声,毫不客气;“法务部长”托人给他带话,被硬生生驳回。他的名气越来越大,但职务却越发不重要,一直到可有可无的位子上。回首过往,李子春感慨:“所以我们的改革,就是要把每个司法人培养成‘钉子户’,训练成独立的司法人,而不是权力羽翼下的‘科员’。”
