内战结束后，美国政治与社会发生重大转变，出现了临驾两党之上，要求改革的独立派运动，构成了１９世纪末美国历史的重要篇章．国内学术界对此尚无涉猎，本文论对独立派的主要思想、改革努力及其历史地位加以论述，指出独立派运动基本上是一次道施重建，改革道德而不改革社会，净化政治却没有反对巨富操纵政治。但独立派运动仍有其重要历史作用，为２０世纪初的进步主义改革运动铺平了道路。
After the civil war ended, there was a major change in politics and society in the United States. The emergence of an independent movement demanding political reform and party membership formed an important chapter in the history of the United States in the late 19th century.
