两周时期,列国林立,仅仅山东境内就有大大小小数十个邦国。在这些邦国中,邾国是仅次于齐、鲁的中等诸侯国家,大约与莒国相当。可是,邾国与莒国又有不同,两国虽然都与鲁国接壤,但邾与鲁之间国都更近、联系更多。邾国的历史发展主线几乎也都不离鲁国,他们互相争斗,互相攻伐,也互相交流,互相影响。到战国时期,邾国在文化上几乎与鲁国融为一体。
