以图书排行榜作为读书和买书的路径,可能是一种愚蠢和危险的疗法,因为这样做的人不是见识浅薄,就是不相信时间的威力。经过一段时间的观察,我发现无论是中国内地的图书排行,还是海外华文图书的排行,抑或是英文图书的排行,大部分充斥着二三流的书籍,在排行榜上挺得最久的可能是好东西,但这的确很难分辨。一般而言,刺激感觉的东西能畅销一时,诉诸心灵的东西可常销永久。有时这两种书在同一张榜单上。但可以说,
