This paper describes the design of a low noise optical receiver for high speed optical transmission of silicon bipolar transistors. The common-collector-common-collector (CE-CC) circuit and the complex transistor circuit (transimpedance amplifier with parallel feedback) are studied. In the case of 400MHz bandwidth, the best collector bias current for CE-CC is 2.7mA to obtain the minimum noise current, which is worse than the optimum current of the compound transistor circuit of 1.2mA. It has been demonstrated that the signal-to-noise ratio of the composite transistor circuit is about 1.5 dB higher than the signal-to-noise ratio of the CE-CC. The avalanche photodiode with a low noise composite transistor optical receiver has a sensitivity of -41dBm when the RZ pulse bit error rate of 400Mb / s is 10 ~ (-10), which is lower than that of the common CE- The light sensitivity of the CC receiver is improved by 2.5dB.
