记者:Kent Watson先生,普华永道是什么时间进入中国市场的?你什么时候来到中国?业务是如何发展的? Kont Watson:我是1992年来到中国的,那时中国刚举办完亚运会不久,资本市场还没有发展起来,我们这个行业的业务也是刚刚开始。中国已决定改革开放走市场经济发展的路,许多国际跨国公司闻风而动,我们在国际上一些大的客户开始进入中国投资,那时还是组建合资企业,没有全资的外资公司。这些跨国公司在中国发展需要我们的帮助。普华永道当时在北京国贸设立了代表处,有一个秘书、一个司机、一个保姆、一个经理,我是首席代表。国际5大会计公司大约都是在这个时间进入中国的。我们在设立代表处仅一年多的时间就开展业务工作了,我记得第一单生意是在1993年,我们帮助外国公司在中国投资提供咨询服务。为中国企业提供服务也是在1993年做成的,中国的第一个客户是“天津渤海”。当时中国一些大的国有企业要改组成立股份公司,要到
Reporter: Mr. Kent Watson, when did PricewaterhouseCoopers enter the Chinese market? When did you come to China? How did the business develop? Kont Watson: I came to China in 1992 when China just finished hosting the Asian Games Soon, the capital market has not developed, our business in this industry has just begun. China has decided to take the road of market economy under the guidance of reform and opening up. Many international multinational corporations are moving in the wind. Some large international clients have started to invest in China. At that time, they still formed joint ventures and did not have wholly-owned foreign-funded companies. The development of these multinationals in China needs our help. PricewaterhouseCoopers then set up a representative office in Beijing’s International Trade Center. There was a secretary, a driver, a nanny, a manager, and I was the chief representative. About five international accounting firms entered China at this time. We started our business operations in just over a year after setting up the representative office. I remember the first single business was in 1993, and we helped foreign companies to provide investment advisory services in China. Services for Chinese enterprises were also made in 1993, and China’s first customer was “Tianjin Bohai Sea.” At that time, some big state-owned enterprises in China wanted to restructure their joint-stock companies to come
