The danger of firefighting is self-evident. Throughout 2010, firefighting teams across the United States responded to building fires and dispatched more than 480,000 fire-fighting fires. As a result of these fires, some 3,120 citizens were killed, 17,720 citizens were injured and property losses exceeded $ 12 billion. In the meantime, nearly 33,000 firefighters were wounded in the fire. The research project will use measurement science methods to study the characteristics and patterns of combustion in buildings and provide guidance on using “unconventional” methods to mitigate fire hazards in buildings and to obtain the best firefighters for fire suppression tasks Safety and highest operational effectiveness. Three key areas of research for this project are ventilation, suppression and the provision of technology transfer to the fire department.
