发表在山西省作家协会主办的《中外故事》的小说《毒杀》,讲述仵作佬刘树心为了赚取每殓葬一具尸体可得50元的工钱,竟然用毒药害死了村中的两个好人,最后阴差阳错连自己也毒死了!读着方瑞洲这篇小说和他在全国各地发表的300多篇兼备哲理性、故事性、曲折性、艺术性的文学作品,不能不钦佩他的写作毅力和所显露的文学才华。方瑞洲是开平市塘口镇人,生活平淡,却不乏激情,打工是他的生存之道。上世纪80年代初,开平各地的侨刊纷纷复刊。众多的侨刊需要大量的稿件,给投稿者提供了广阔的写作空间。在好奇心的驱使下,从小就向往文学殿堂的方瑞洲打定主意,以给侨刊投稿为起点,逐步突破,逐级攀登,追求着梦中的理想。
