入春以来,运城、临汾、榆次等专区二十七县相继发现麦蚜与红蜘蛛等虫害。三月中旬临汾、榆次、长治专区又有十八县因气候寒冷,普遍发现麦田死苗现象。四月十一日运城、临汾、长治、榆次等专区所发生的麦田冻灾则是面积最大危害程度最深的一次。据上述四个专区统计,受灾面积占全部麦田百分之四十八点五,运城专区受灾面积,占麦田百分之五十五,临汾专区受灾面积,占麦田百分之四十点七,长治专区受灾面积,占麦田百分之四十八。榆次专区受灾面积,占麦田百分之三十二点七。其中受灾最严重的县份如荣河、河津、稷山、万泉、洪洞、临汾、赵城、浮山等受灾面积达百分之八十以上。四月二十六日运城专区又有垣曲、平陸、解县等九县遭受雹灾。灾害连次侵袭,灾区群众生产情绪大受影响。受灾之后,本府与各专区均根据中央人民政府及华北行政委员会的指示进行了紧急措施,分派慰问组到各地进行慰问救济;发动群众大力抢救麦田,并由省大批调运粮食供应灾区市场需要。目前情况已渐安定,但继续大力发动与组织群众战胜灾害,稳定粮价,
