人参系传统名贵药材之一,驰名中外,在医疗实践中占有重要地位。关于人参,各国学者作了大量的工作,尤其是日本学者柴田承二等人经过长时间的努力已从人参分离出15种以上的单体皂甙,并确定了它们的化学结构。大量文献说明十几种单体皂甙是人参的主要生理活性成分。人参茎叶不但含有与人参根活性相同的人参皂甙成分,而且人参总皂甙的含量高于人参根。药理实验说明,人参茎叶总皂甙的功效与根总皂甙相同。从人参茎叶提取分离总皂甙,国内外已有多种方法。多数是参照人参根中提取分离总皂甙的方法,即甲醇回流提取,乙醚
