光电子学是科学技术领域中最年青的和最有发展前途的新兴学科之一。它是在六十年代飞速发展起来的。光量子发生器的出现,为激光光电子学的发展打下了基础。与此同时,还研制成了非相干辐射体。在六十年代初期,出现了红外辐射体和发光二极管。1970年康宁玻璃公司的专家们研制出一种低损耗光学的纤维。这就实现了对光学信息的传输。光电元件及其工业制品的工艺过程也日臻完善。光电技术的最初试验已证明,它比半导体电子学优越。这就是光电子学能够得到飞速发展的一个主要原因。
Optoelectronics is one of the youngest and most promising emerging disciplines in science and technology. It developed rapidly in the sixties.
