兴国一中建于1952年2月,1959年确定为省、地重点中学,文革期间停办,1976年复办。学校占地面积135亩,现有教学班78个。校园位于县城北端,北靠方山,南临潋水。兴国一中复办以来发展迅速,特别是近几年因成绩显著,先后被命名为省重点学校、省安全文明校园、省现代教育技术示范学校、省科研兴校先进单位、省优秀体育传统项目学校、省绿化先进单位、省安全文明校园。教育教学六大亮色,构建了兴国一中的今日新貌。
