In 2015, the Beijing Higher People’s Court accepted 2,950 IPR cases (including old ones), an increase of 17.34% over the same period of last year, including 6 cases of first instance, 2,904 cases of second instance and 40 appeal cases. Among the cases accepted throughout the year, 2239 were authorized to certify intellectual property rights, accounting for 75.90% of the total number of cases accepted in the year; 665 were intellectual property cases, accounting for 24.10% of the total number of cases handled in the year. Of the 2,239 cases in which intellectual property rights were authorized to be granted for administrative authorization, 178 were patent-related administrative authorities, accounting for 7.95% of all cases.
