如前所述,在白质内,那些起、止相同,功能相似的神经纤维常集中在某一局部内,形成一个传导束。人们常根据传导束内神经冲动传递的方向,把传导束分为上行和下行传导束两类。所谓上行传导束是指把低级脑区(如脊髓和脑干)的冲动,传向高级脑部(如小脑、间脑和皮质)的传导束。而下行传导束则是指由高级脑部向低级脑部传导信息的传导束。
