In 1985, CNAC signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the U.S. East-West Center on scientific and technological cooperation for development. The two sides conducted major issues on population control in China, water resources management policies in Beijing and Tianjin, China's urbanization policy, and power management in Central China Cooperative research, made gratifying research results. These research results have gained wide attention in academia, economy, science and technology and government departments. Recently, the State Science and Technology Commission and the East-West Center for Britain signed another memorandum of understanding on further cooperation and research.
