透平膨胀机在工业气体的节能工艺中的应用已有40多年的历史。膨胀机工艺技术可达到收率高、工厂布置紧凑,并利用了气流中的“自由”压降和运行上的弹性。被证实的新式高效透平膨胀机也正在经济可行地回收各种废热源的能量,透平膨胀机在节能工艺过程中的应用有:萃取乙烷和丙烷、控制天然气露点、生产液化天然气、闪蒸烃液、回收天然气压降释放的能量和油田热电联产。自1963年首次采用深冷天然气加工工艺以来,目前已运转的装置接近1000台。其中海上平台装有数台。
