郭味蕖先生是一代花鸟画巨擘,亦富书画收藏。祖上是山东潍县(今潍坊市)的名门显族。所居住的“南园”就是郑板桥称之为“甲第云连尚书府,带宅园林太守家”的郭氏园。据《潍县志稿·营缮志》载,南园是旧嘉靖时刘应节的园子。明代天启时,归郭尚友,而后逐渐构筑了旧华轩、知鱼亭、忪篁阁、来风轩等处。尚友的孙子郭(?)璐是饶州知府,(?)璐有两个侄子,一名伟业(质亭),一名伟绩(芸亭),都是潍县有名的文士,与板桥过从甚密。现今尚存的“郭家园”匾额就是出自板桥手笔。郭味蕖就生长在这样的一个才人辈出的书香世家。其曾祖郭藕汀与赵之谦交厚,喜藏字画。味蘖先生本人也以毕生精
