Representatives from the United States, Japan and European countries are about to propose a world-scale research and development of manufacturing systems. The total cost of the project is estimated at one billion U.S. dollars and is shared by all parties. The American Association of Manufactured Engineers in Delburn, Michigan, has been designated North American Secretariat for this project. The goal of this 10-year research and development project is to develop the latest compatible information and communications technology that automates the manufacturing of control and processing equipment. The participants in this project hope that the technology they are developing will strengthen people and people throughout the manufacturing operations worldwide
