天妃,是闽、台两地民众曾共同信仰的海上护佑女神。至今对其崇祀的习俗仍在流传。到目前为止,对天妃海神的信仰和崇拜还继续流行于我国大陆沿海地区、台湾地区的民间及日本冲绳、美国檀香山和东南亚各国的华裔人民中间。而其中尤以闽、台两地为最盛。本文专论闽、台两地天妃海神崇拜的历史情况以及由此所反映出的,自中国封建社会后期以来闽、台文化一体性的一个侧面。
