OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between the expression of VEGF, caspase and AKT in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) cells and their relationship with lymph node metastasis and angiogenesis. Methods: The expressions of VEGF, caspase and AKT in 68 cases of PTC tissues were detected by immunohistochemical SP method. The MVD of CD34 positive vessels was counted. Results: There was a significant difference in the expression of VEGF, caspase, AKT and MVD between lymph node metastasis group and non-metastasis group, P <0.05; VEGF, AKT and PTC lymph node metastasis were positively correlated; while the expression of caspase and lymph node metastasis Negative correlation, P <0.05. CONCLUSION: The expressions of PTC, VEGF, caspase and AKT are correlated with lymphatic metastasis and MVD. Detecting the expression of these proteins will help determine the metastatic potential and angiogenesis of PTC.
