Although there are still sandstorms in our country this spring, the number of sandstorms in northern China, including Beijing, has apparently been fewer than usual. In mid-February of this year, the State Environmental Protection Administration announced that this spring, the timing, location, strength and impact range of the first dust storms in China will be accurately predicted. At the end of February, China Meteorological Administration formally released the forecast for the dust storms in the spring of 2003 for the first time, pointing out that the four major causes will cause the number of sandstorms in northern China to be near normal or under normal levels this spring including Beijing.
