The London Underground ordered 680 metro vehicles to British Rail Engineering in 1988. These cars will be compiled into a series of eighty-eight eight-car EMU with a total investment of 350 million pounds. These EMU are the first new subway trains introduced by the London Underground in nine years. The new cars, produced with the aluminum alloy body manufacturing equipment from the De Beelzeich Ryan plant, reflect the latest in vehicle design. The new eight-car train subway train about 5 m longer than the existing train, each train can carry about 1300 people. One of the most significant improvements compared with the existing 1960-built vehicles on the Central Line is the use of larger, passenger-accessible exterior sliding doors that both improve passenger mobility and reduce passenger movement on the platform The residence time.
