那是中央红军主力突围长征后的1935年1月,时任中共江西省委书记的曾山,带领一支300多人的队伍,从兴国县的崇贤向北行动,欲利用白云山的山林为掩护,相机渡过富水河,从吉水的冠山进入水丰,再入新干。这支疲惫并且枪弹严重不足的队伍,沿途多次与敌人战斗,历经艰险,最后只剩下16个人,沿着绵延不断的大山昼伏夜行,来到白云山脚下的观音崖。
