抗日战争是中国近代历史上最伟大的民族解放战争,是以国共合作为基础,包括工农商学兵各界各族人民、各民主党派抗日团体、各阶层爱国人士和海外侨胞参加的全民族抗战。抗日战争的胜利,是中华民族团结抗战的胜利。海外华侨也是这场全民族抗战中的重要力量。他们以空前的民族热忱支持和参加祖国抗战的丰功伟绩,不仅是中国近代史上的光辉篇章,而且是永远激励中华民族爱国热情的伟大精神力量。抗日战争爆发前,全世界的华侨、华人有一千万人左右,其中八百多万人分布在东南亚地区。战前华侨背井离乡去国万里,受尽居留国帝国主义或殖民主义政府的压迫、欺凌,被视为次于欧美、日本人的「劣等」侨民。因此,热切希望祖国昌盛强大,成为他们的有力靠山。祖国的兴衰荣辱,都牵动着海外游子的身心。这是海外华侨爱国爱乡思想产生和发展的原动力。抗日战争全面爆发后,海外华侨焕发的极大的民族热忱,表现出的热烈爱国行动,成为祖国抗日军民坚持抗战的强大精神力量和物资力量。他们从南洋到欧美,从工商界到学生、劳工界,从青年到
The war of resistance against Japan was the greatest national liberation war in modern history of China. It was based on the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party and comprised all ethnic groups in the country, people from all walks of life in the workers, peasants, business schools, anti-Japanese groups of all democratic parties, patriots from all walks of life and overseas Chinese. The victory of the Anti-Japanese War is the victory of the Chinese nation in uniting the war of resistance. Overseas Chinese are also important forces in this all-nation war of resistance. Their great enthusiasm in supporting and participating in the great achievements of the motherland’s war of resistance is not only a glorious chapter in the modern history of China, but also a great spiritual force that will forever inspire the Chinese nation’s patriotic enthusiasm. Before the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, there were about 10 million overseas Chinese and overseas Chinese all over the world, of whom over 8 million were scattered in Southeast Asia. Before the war, the overseas Chinese were fleeing their homeland and going abroad for thousands of miles.
