The novel On the Road, published in April 1951, is one of the most important novels of the 1950s and is called the Bible of the “Beat Generation.” Author Kerouac began thinking about the concept of autobiographical literature as early as the 1940s. The original manuscript even retained the names of real people. The overall construction of the novel is divided into five parts, focusing on the narrator Saar and his friend Dean four sections of the journey across the continental United States, about their July 1947 to 1950 in New York City, San Francisco and Mexico City as Basic point across the continent to find the story. Behind the seemingly crazy journey, the novel hides a deeper theme - the pilgrimage.
