古人说:“桃子夭夭,灼灼其华。”这句赞美桃子的诗句用在今天就不仅仅是夸桃子了,它在时间上又证明着桃子在中国历史的悠久。桃原产于我国西部,陕西是桃子的老家,据《拾遗记》载:汉明帝时常山献来“巨核桃,”说是下霜时开花,到暑天才成熟。也正是汉武帝时桃子经由甘肃、新疆一带传入波斯,以后又由波斯传入欧洲,再以后又陆续地被引种到世界各地。
