山西省是鼠疫历史疫区,历史上曾有过多次鼠疫的发生和流行,给人民带来了极大的灾难。为严防鼠疫的发生,按照上级的要求,山西省从1962年开始,由省、地、县三级组成联合调查组在右玉县杀虎口和临县等地设调查点,开展了鼠疫疫源调查工作。在此基础上,逐步在省境西北部有鼠疫流行史
