Shanghai’s textile industry is one of the birthplaces of China’s textile industry and plays an important role in the national textile economy and Shanghai’s economy. In the more than 40 years after the founding of New China, the profits and taxes and foreign exchange earned by Shanghai’s textile industry turned over to the state totaled the first among all systems. In the national textile industry, Shanghai Textile has created 5% of the total amount of cotton spindles in the country, creating 10% of the national textile output value, 11% of the export delivery value and 17% of the profits and taxes, and the highest in the industry
