在“技巧派”的代表人物——尼科罗 帕格尼尼还没有成名之前,演奏速度的极限一直就是个虚数,当然这不能说“速度”就是音乐,只不过是没有人来关心而已。在帕氏辞世后的150年中虽然出现过为数不少的“速度技巧”派人物(比如小提琴人师Alexander Markov,新古典吉他大师Yngwie J.Malmsteen),但演奏速度的极限仍没有能确定。“在夜间听帕氏的作品会窒息……杀人的音符!”这句修辞恶毒但是褒义无限的话至今仍被帕格尼尼怀抱
